Salary: £25,421 - £33,577 depending on skills and experience & study support

Working Pattern: Permanent Full Time 37 hours per week

About the Department

Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSEs obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs. SSE operates in a highly regulated and increasingly competitive environment, and our role is to ensure that we gather, compile, analyse and recommend on the financial strategy for our businesses, identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and create value for SSE now, and in the future.

What is the Role

SSE Thermal is recruiting for an Accounts Analyst to join the team. This is an exciting time to join as SSE Thermal positions itself to be the leading provider of flexible energy in a low carbon world.

The role will deliver financial support across the portfolio, with varied tasks in a complex and fast paced commercial and political arena.

Particular focus will be on the monthly reporting process through preparation of journals and reviewing accounting data to ensure accuracy of records is maintained while meeting internal reporting deadlines.

Maintain Balance Sheet account reconciliations highlighting and investigating material variances.

Assisting in the preparation of Statutory reporting and supporting the Audit process

Preparation of VAT returns and other reporting requirements.

Involvement in varied Project work, a requirement to complete ad hoc duties and to seek continuous improvement opportunities to support the business.

What do I need?

Ideally have commenced study with a professional accounting body (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or AAT) with a knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedure. An awareness of current regulations including IFRS and be enthusiastic and dependable with a diligent professional approach.
