About the Department
The Community Investment team is part of SSEs Sustainability team and is responsible for delivering a multi-million-pound programme of community funds across the UK and Ireland.
What is the Role
Working as part of the Community Investment team, you will take responsibility for the development, management and administration of a key part of our grant-funding programme.
Acting as an ambassador for SSE, you will seek to build strong relationships with local and regional stakeholders, ensuring that a positive impact to both the community and company is maximised.
We are committed to continuous improvement and we would like someone who will actively look for opportunities to be more efficient and improve the service provision of the team.
What do I need?
Your excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting to both small and large groups of people are fundamental to your success in this role. You will lead meetings with groups of community members and third sector partners, ensuring that decisions about how funds are allocated are taken in a fair, consistent and transparent manner.
Demonstrating strong planning skills, you will be able to manage several community funds simultaneously, carefully balancing workload with deadlines in the most efficient and effective manner. The ability to identify opportunities to communicate funds to stakeholders and media is vital as well as having a working knowledge of Office 365 to enable you to produce first-class reports and case studies.
A background in either fund management, community development or similar environments, is therefore essential.
Having an understanding of, or interest in the renewable energy industry; community development or policy in either of these would be an advantage but is not essential.
A degree of flexibility is also required as your role will include regularly working out of core hours, particularly evenings, and to travel within the UK. As such, a full UK driving licence is also essential.
Please be aware if you are successful, you'll be required to complete our pre-employment screening process before joining SSE.
