Craft Technician (Electrical)
- Job Reference: NWGNX461427
- Date Posted: 2 October 2019
- Location: Suffolk
- Salary: £24,764 to £30,955
About the role
We are currently seeking a skilled craft technician within our Maintenance team. You will report to the Maintenance Manager whereby you will ensure that all electrical equipment associated with our water treatment works are running safely and efficiently using both proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
You will need to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, electrical plant equipment. Using a Mobile Tablet for work instructions and providing status updates you will follow a robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Working outside with no one day being the same provides a very interesting working environment. You will be presented with unique challenges whether it’s using your expertise to diagnose a fault or working with your team to prevent plant damage.
You will be a fully mobile worker covering the Suffolk Water Supply region, starting and finishing at home, maintaining our Water Treatment Works and pumping stations. This role boasts about its great, closely-knit team where you will never be short of support. You’ll also provide technical advice, coupled with training support for apprentices.
Examples of equipment you will be working on include: 3 phase motors, starters and controls, variable speed drives, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Please note you will participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant induction and training periods.
Please note – This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
Are you a qualified Electrician? Do you have experience working on industrial plant equipment? We are looking for an apprenticeship-served, 17th/18th Edition Electrician with relevant recent industrial experience. Must be able to work confidently on 3 phase equipment.
Due to the nature of this role domestic experience alone is not suitable. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
A full, UK driving licence is essential and you will have full responsibility and use of a company van.
