Delivering energy across the nation takes epic feats of engineering. At our world-class training centre in Eakring, Nottinghamshire, we’ll show you how we do it. Here, you’ll receive with expert instruction, hands-on live work, 3D study suites and more. The programme lasts 36 months and features a blended learning approach including gaining a Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering – (City & Guilds)
Year 1 – The majority of the year will be spent at our training Academy in Eakring, Nottinghamshire. Here you will begin your structured training covering both technical and academic training
Year 2 – In year 2 your time will be split between Eakring and at Substation sites. You will be allocated a mentor but will also be supported by the teams you are working with. You will start to put some of the training you have learned into practice through shadowing experienced engineers.
Year 3 – During your final year you will be spending most of your time at various substations to ensure that you are getting a wide variety of experiences to fulfil your logbook.
Throughout the programme, you’ll gain experience adhering to safety practices and procedures and carrying out risk assessments. Shadowing an experienced Craftspersons, you’ll use electrical/mechanical knowledge and skills to install, maintain and dismantle a wide variety of high voltage plant and apparatus including transformers, switchgear, cable terminations and other associated equipment
