Job Title - Environmental Manager (Waste Collections)

Location -  Stubbs Mead Depot, Factory Lane, Croydon CR0 3RL

Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week or hours to fulfil duties, Weekends included - 1 in 4 Saturdays.


What you’ll do

The Environmental Manager will be responsible for the day to day operational and managerial functions to operate effectively. You will lead front line operatives inline with the company goals and objectives, and the delivery of high-quality services to Local Authorities and their Residents. The Environmental Manager will act as the main liaison with the Local Authorities and its Residents to improve satisfaction levels with the service, whilst focusing on the Health and Safety of both the operatives and the general public.

The Environmental Manager will monitor and manage the site budget to ensure targets are met and you are maximising productivity and cost control. You will be responsible for implementing a health and wellbeing culture that improves productivity and control vehicle usage and costs. 

You will be responsible for ensuring a safe culture to protect all employees and customers through compliance with company procedures. You will have a strong knowledge of Transport rules and regulations and undertake any investigations on site. You will increase staff engagement within the team and educate the employees in line with Veolia’s vision and values.

The Environmental Manager will develop and maintain good relationships with the customer and deliver industry-leading service. You will be responsible for being involved in disciplinary hearings and grievances for employees. You will have the ability to work alongside other Environmental Managers and develop business continuity plans with senior management.


The experience you will need

Essential:

  • Ability to identify the skills and qualifications required to comply with legislation and company practice

  • Implement training programmes to meet company requirements

  • IOSH

  • Manual handling

  • Previous supervisory experience

Desirable:

  • Budget Management

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety

  • Strong financial management

  • Strong people management

  • Team Leader skills

Where you’ll work 

To be based at Stubbs mead depot in Croydon, Factory Lane CR0 3RL. You may be required to work within the SLWP at other locations.

Currently, the working depot is council-owned and we share the depot, we also have the largest Veolia workshop in UK on site.
