We now have an exciting opportunity to join one of the South West's leading employers as a Finance Manager to join our team based in Exeter, looking after the Drinking Water side of the business.
What will you be doing?
South West Water has defined, through its long term Business Plan, the objective of improving business performance and delivering a significant step change in outcomes for customers and the environment. As a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the business meets or exceeds these objectives.
You will be responsible for full financial reporting, analysis and management information. This includes a strong understanding of key areas of spend: employees, power, chemicals and contracted services.
Financial control is another key area of responsibility. You will manage the budget and forecast timetables for Drinking Water activities and ensure all relevant members of the business are fully aware of their responsibilities. You’ll ensure robust financial controls are in place, operating costs and capital expenditure and invoicing of Water non primary charges. Additionally, you will review the end to end financial controls for Water, identifying and driving delivery of improvements.
The Finance Manager will also be responsible for the preparation and review of budgets, quarterly forecasts and business plans, as well as continued monitoring of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances. You’ll take responsibility for inputting budgets and forecasts into financial systems.
What do you need?
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA accounting qualification (or equivalent) and post qualification experience
- Experienced in improving financial procedures, controls and management information
- Experience of managing a team of financial staff in a busy operational environment
- Articulate and able to present strong business cases
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to influence peers and Directors persuasively
