Role requirements


This programme consists of rotational placements and therefore you must be willing to relocate as and when the programme requires.


Qualifications: You must have, or be predicted to gain, a 2:2 degree classification or above in an engineering discipline.

About the role


Interconnectors play a key part of the UK’s energy industry, connecting us to our neighbouring countries and providing sustainable, flexible energy transmission. As such, their full and safe operation is vital to the UK and for the business. The HVDC Engineer plays a fundamental technical role in ensuring that our assets are appropriately invested in to maintain availability. You’ll work with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to find cost effective investment solutions to ageing assets, adding real value to major infrastructure projects while future-proofing the business and the UK’s continued access to low carbon energy.

What you'll do


You will:


  • Oversee a programme of investment at various UK interconnectors to ensure continued full and safe operations
  • Work with suppliers, contractors and other external parties to form scopes of work, finalise investment decisions and manage projects often throughout their entire lifecycle
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and contractors to efficiently deliver interlinking programmes of work
  • Use otechnical expertise to formulate and present business cases, and then deliver projects in line with agreed scopes, cost and timelines to achieve efficient investment delivery
  • Manage projects of various types and sizes throughout the entire project lifecycle

You will receive a starting salary of £28,105 (or £29,127 if you hold a Masters) and a £2000 joining bonus.
