ICA Project Technician

Salary: £30,004 to 37,506 dependent on experience + quarterly performance bonus + car/car allowance + pension + 25 days holiday
Location: Home based with travel across Yorkshire region

We currently have vacancies for ICA Project Technicians to join the ICA Delivery Team which forms part of the wider Asset Integrity Department in the Asset Integrity Business Unit.

Instrumentation, control and automation (ICA) systems are key to operating our water production, treatment and distribution processes in a safe and efficient way whilst maintaining our environmental credentials.

As an ICA Project Technician, you will support the delivery of a multi million pound planned programme of ICA projects and services from concept thorough to completion and ensure ICA quality, standards and safety are maintained. This programme will produce a stable and resilient ICA infrastructure across the Kelda Group.

What will the role involve?

In your role as ICA Project Technician you will be responsible for delivering a defined programme of ICA site projects and services to improve ICA safety, stability and reliability. Your responsibilities will include the design, specification, scope, implementation, testing, commission and quality control of ICA siteworks projects.

This will involve complex analytical Instrumentation, PLC's, SCADA and site Communication Networks and ensuring they comply to the relevant standards, quality and safety requirements.

You will also supervise and support a team of multi-disciplined engineers and sub-contract specialists to implement a multi-million-pound planned programme of ICA engineering projects.

You will be responsible for controlling all aspects of the siteworks and ensuring they are delivered safely to the highest standards and managed in line with the principles of the Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations, as well as within agreed timescales and costs.

You will be expected to plan, manage and prioritise ICA project site workload effectively and to build and maintain relationships with customers, colleagues, suppliers and contract partners. This will include adhering to the Health and Safety policy, compliance with the relevant standards, statutory regulations and ensuring that quality checks and controls are in place.You will also support identifying and implementing ICA improvements and drive the right ICA culture and behaviours.

What skills are we looking for?

A detailed knowledge of the design and implementation of ICA site solutions and services within a complex and varied engineering environment. This will include knowledge of Process instrumentation, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) hardware and software, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and site data networks.

You will have experience of the ICA site installation process ensuring safety, quality and standards are maintained at all times whilst delivering to agreed cost and timescales and ensuring all risks are identified and managed. You will also have experience in identifying and improving work methods and be able to challenge convention using mature and reasoned arguments.

You will be required to have a detailed knowledge of Health & Safety policy and safe working practice including Construction Design Management (CDM), control of works, hazardous area environments, applying structured Risk Management methodologies and Functional, Process and Machinery Safety.

You will be IT literate and have experience in an industrial asset management environment. You will be required to visit sites across the Yorkshire Region therefore a full valid and clean EU driving licence is essential.

It is essential that you have successfully completed a recognised qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control & Automation or an ICA related discipline to the minimum of HNC/NVQ level 4 and have achieved and working towards IEng professional status.
