Corporate Data Intern

You can now apply for our internship programme, which commences in June 2020, as a Digital Corporate Data Intern. During your internship you will support the Corporate Data team create and maintain a healthy data environment in Scottish Water.
Scottish Water maintains and manages over 70000 assets to ensure that all of our customers continue to receive first class water and waste water services. In order to do this Scottish Water staff require the appropriate data at their fingertips - from customer details or project financials to real time pumping rates from all over the country. Scottish Waters Digital Directorate are rolling out a number of new products and moving to cloud based solutions to enable staff to undertake their work both in offices and out in the field. Our digital directorate is a dynamic and exciting place to work. The Corporate data team are working across digital and the wider business to ensure that the impact of these system changes are fully understood, that opportunities to maximise efficiency are taken where possible and that we have robust data models and catalogues underpinning our systems.
The successful intern will support the team with conceptual and logical data modelling, data governance, modelling system integrations, building a corporate data catalogue and improving our data capture processes.
This Internship will offer a fantastic opportunity to work with other self-starters in a vibrant and forward-thinking digital team that is responsible for shaping the future Digital landscape within Scottish Water. The location of this role is flexible as long as it’s within our main office network.
You will be studying towards a degree in a data-based discipline (Data Modelling, Data architecture, Data Analysis, Business Analysis, Spatial Data) and share our passion for delivering great customer service.
Experience of the areas below is desirable:
Cloud based technologies
Oracle/SQL Server systems
To get the most from the programme you’ll be ready to engage fully in the development opportunities that are available to you.
To be eligible to apply for this internship programme you will be a penultimate year student (for example in your third year of a four year course, or in your fourth year but going on to study a Masters Degree. You need to be available for the 12 week duration of the programme and on course to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
