Job Title - Recycling Operative
Salary - £17,000 plus £1,300 pa attendance bonus**** plus Veolia benefits *listed below
Location - Veolia, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 4JD
Hours - Full time, Monday-Friday, 06:00am-14:30pm & 14:30pm-23:00pm rolling shifts
What you’ll do
You will be responsible for carrying out recycling operative tasks at Alton Materials Recovery Facility. Other duties include:
Ensuring materials are separated to meet the required standards of the markets as directed
Sorting individual materials off the sorting conveyor as directed
Ensuring the work area is kept in a clean and tidy condition during and at the end of the working day
Undertaking cleaning duties of the plant when required
Undertaking all tasks in accordance with the Company’s Quality and Environmental Management System and Health and Safety
Providing cover for other positions within the MRF
Operating mobile plant and balers if required and on the successful completion of the relevant training
Carrying out any reasonable request made by management to ensure the smooth running of the MRF

Where you’ll work
Alton MRF is the largest Materials Recycling Facility that Veolia has in Hampshire and the most technologically advanced plant of its kind in the county. We are based just off the A31 at Upper Froyle. The site receives recyclable material or ‘dry’ materials like paper, card, plastic and cans where they are separated by a combination of automatic and manual sorting.
There are over 90 people working on site responsible to the Supervisory Team, who work closely together to meet the needs of the business. The Supervisory Team is built up of 2 Shift Supervisors, 2 Shift Leaders and then supported by the Senior Operations Supervisor, the team work closely together to ensure each shift operates efficiently, effectively with an emphasis on the Health and Safety of everyone working on site.
