About The Role

 

 

Permanent - Major Project - North East

Providing Health, Safety and  Environment  (HSE) support to Strategic Infrastructure via The Great Grid Upgrade projects, you will coach, advise, train, motivate, inspire and encourage managers, staff and contractors to deliver legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement. 
Working within our Major Infrastructure Projects (Sealink/ Eastern Green Links) and with other HSE professionals, you will help to create, achieve and sustain world class HSE performance. You will support the effective implementation, coordination, execution and monitoring of all aspects of Quality Assurance, ensuring compliance with all relevant ISO standards, NG policies, procedures, specifications, and wider Joint Venture management systems.
Utilising your knowledge of HSE you will provide specialist advice on CDM, Environmental Management, legislation and industry standards. As HSE Advisor you will promote the implementation of the company strategy and help us to deliver these projects and achieve HSE excellence
The projects are located on the UK’s North East Coast therefore applicants should be accessible to this geography. 

 

We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

About You

•    A thorough knowledge of HSE legislation and experience implementing behavioural safety and cultural development programs. 
•    Good HSE qualifications to support the role e.g., NEBOSH, IEMA, CMIOSH.
•    Expertise and understanding of CDM Regulations with demonstrable experience managing interfaces between contractors, working with duty holders, and ensuring compliance. 
•    Good knowledge and experience of how large projects are successfully delivered in the construction phase.
•    The ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, both internally and with our contract partners and effectively engage and get the best out of people working on the project.
•    Experience in the development and implementation of robust assurance programs for HSE in construction. 
•    Knowledge of auditing and root cause analysis techniques.
•    Experience in the management and review of contract documentation.
•    Experience in conducting multi-level incident investigations and report writing skills. Including abilities in root cause analysis and preventative mitigation planning

What You'll Do

 

 

Your duties will be ranging and include:

 

 

•    Supporting the implementation and delivery of company SHESQ strategies Strategic Infrastructure projects.
•    Providing CDM expertise and advice to the project, working to manage interfaces and ensure that statutory compliance is achieved.
•    Acting as a single point of contact for advice and expertise on HSE management. To ensure the effectiveness of the Construction Phase Plans, Construction Environmental Management and sustainability strategies during the lifecycle of the project.
•    Encouraging the adoption of best practice initiatives and look for opportunities to make HSE improvements.
•    Providing appropriate SHESQ input into the tender and contract award process, including review of documentation and management systems.
•    Supporting accident / incident investigations to establish root causes, providing expert advice, support and guidance on legal framework and communicate learning points.
•    Actively engaging, coaching, and positively influencing staff, managers and contractors on SHESQ performance and risk management to promote a positive HSE culture across Strategic Infrastructure.
•    Liaising with Principal Contractors to ensure the preparation and implementation SHESQ management systems and arrangements.
•    Partnering with the Principal Designer, to ensure the preparation and implementation design risk reviews, along with the collation of the pre-construction information, to ensure fulfilment of Duty Holders responsibilities.
•    Providing independent HSE Assurance advice and audit capability to Strategic Infrastructure Project Teams through design, pre-construction & construction, testing & commissioning phases.
•    Ensuring suitable controls and processes are in place for the development and ongoing management of the CDM Risk Register.
•    Planning and implementing site assurance programme for projects on a risk-based approach.
•    Providing input into the development, review and implementation of NG / Joint Venture policies, procedures and specifications as required and promote best practice and lessons learned.
 

What You'll Get

 

 

A competitive starting salary between £50,000 – £60,000 dependent on capability plus car from an extensive list of fully electric and hybrid options.
