We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated people to join our Potable Water Sampling Team within Technical Logistics, Scientific Services based at Dornoch.

Role Summary
The main purpose of the role is to prepare, collect and deliver samples of clean water and raw water ensuring that all required samples are taken to comply with relevant legislation and operational needs and requirements.
To succeed in this role we are looking for customer focused individuals with excellent people skills and an eye for detail, who can perform well in a rapidly changing environment.
The successful candidates will be representing Scottish Water on a daily basis when collecting samples whether from Scottish Water assets, non-domestic customers or householders, and is responsible for the experience of the customer during that visit.

Person Specification & Key Accountabilities
This role will suit someone who likes variety, can work well on their own, but also as part of a team to ensure that targets are met across the group and not just individually.
Many of our sampling procedures are accredited by UKAS and therefore the successful candidate must be able to follow instructions carefully and be diligent in recording all pertinent information, both on paper and computerised systems.
As a lone worker, adherence to health and safety protocols is essential.
The ideal candidate will hold a clean driving license, live within a commutable distance to the Dornoch office and have a reasonable geographical knowledge of the surrounding area. 
There is a significant amount of driving required for this role and a van will be provided for all work activities. The van will be left at the depot outside of standard operational hours, and during non-working weekends and holidays. As a result, the successful candidates will be expected to make their own way to and from the depot at the start and at the end of each shift.

Shift Pattern
This post is to be offered to two candidates on a job share basis to cover a full time shift pattern with additional weekend working and standby on a rota basis as required are included as conditions of contract. 
One contract shall be offered at 22 hours per week to be covered over three shifts, and the other offered at 15 hours per week to be covered over two shifts. Please indicate in your application which shift pattern would be preferred.
Standby cover shall be provided on an ‘out of hours’ basis seven days per week at a frequency of once every four weeks. Weekend working shall cover Saturday and Sunday at the same frequency.
Given the nature of the position being offered as a job share, one vehicle will be provided to carry out the tasks required by the role, and it will be the responsibility of the successful candidates to work together to establish a suitable schedule to cover workload and share resources.
