What you'll be doing 

  • Deliver licence area / district business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms.

  • Support delivery of robust communication activities to facilitate the delivery of project plans and deliverables affecting local communities, customers and stakeholders.

  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of performance targets as appropriate.

  • To deliver the relevant elements of the business plan, undertake some or all of the following activities: contract management, operational switching and safety document activities up to 33kV, plant and protection commissioning and project management.

  • To drive continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.

  • Integrate asset stewardship and ownership values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning and delivery activities to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network.

  • Promotes an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities.

  • Via effective contractor management, deliver a portfolio of capital investment projects and associated regulatory outputs, integrating the priorities and requirements of customer service, capital delivery & incentive mechanisms.

  • Lead the integration of Operational Excellence principles in all undertakings

  • Responsibility for the quality and financial assurance of projects delivered by the team.

What you'll bring 

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.

  • General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness.

  • Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.

  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.

  • Ability to devise solutions to problems / challenges.

  • Relevant operational authorisation.

  • Expert knowledge of Engineering standards and specifications up to 33kV

Minimum Criteria

  • Expert knowledge of Engineering standards and specifications up to 33kV

  • Relevant operational authorisation (attained S1/OP1 authorisations, or working towards)

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.

  • General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness.

  • Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.

  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.

  • Ability to devise solutions to problems / challenges.
