Base Location: Perth/Reading
Salary: £36,900 - £56,500 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

About the Department
Our SSE Markets Regulation and Group Compliance function is accountable for providing specific legislative, regulatory, industry code, cost forecast and market arrangements advice and guidance tailored to the businesses. We oversee and monitor the businesses compliance using a risk-based approach, ensuring effective controls and systems are in place and support the businesses to take corrective actions. We provide subject matter expertise and support to the management of SSE's relationships with external regulatory stakeholders, such as Ofgem. Working with our business, we identify, prioritise and lead SSE's responses to existing and new market frameworks, codes and regulatory policy changes (including dealing with information requests, consultation and attending external meetings) to influence and secure the best outcomes for SSE. We also support the business to fully understand, interpret and act upon the changes.
What is the Role?
An opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious individual to join the Customer Solutions GB Regulation team (Business Energy).
Reporting to the Head of Regulation you will be responsible for leading key pieces of regulatory and industry codes work. This includes coordinating responses to consultations and requests for information issued by Ofgem and relevant industry bodies, delivering the regulatory strategy for key business workstreams and effectively representing the views of Business Energy through attendance at external events and meetings. You will be capable of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within Business Energy and will be expert at communicating important messages concisely.
You will have a strong focus on providing an excellent service for Business Energy, providing accurate and timely guidance on the interpretation of regulatory and industry code obligations and supporting the document approvals process.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you will ideally be degree qualified, with experience of interpreting regulatory and/or industry code obligations. Experience of managing relationships with industry code parties is desirable. You will have excellent report writing skills, good attention to detail, first class communication skills and be structured in approach and resilient in character.
