Salary: £40,000- £53,000 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time 37 hours per week

Slough Heat and Power (SHP) provides electrical power to the Slough Trading Estate by means of a private electrical power network. It owns and operates several primary and secondary substations including 33kV, 11kV and LV assets.

What is the Role?

The Real Time Systems (RTS) Engineer provides support to all the systems that make up our Network Management System (NMS) and the SCADA control system. A key part of the role is to design and implement sophisticated configuration that will support the business-critical performance of the NMS and SCADA systems delivered within the GE PowerOn Advantage.

In summary the role extends across the operational requirements of the ECC ranging from the creation of network displays in the form of tailored HMIs, creation of SCADA solutions on new and existing customer networks, and the maintenance and support of the GE PowerOn application servers.

The role will have responsibility of ensuring that control systems are at optimal performance to support the electrical Networks we manage and control. The role requires maintenance and development of safety critical processes and procedures for the Control Centre to ensure that the network remains fully complaint with the technical, statutory and regulatory requirements and safety rules.

The Real Time Systems Engineer provides support to all the systems that make up our Network Management System (NMS) and the SCADA control system. The role will have responsibility of ensuring that control systems are at optimal performance networks and support with the maintenance and development of processes and procedures for the control room and network safety operations to ensure that the network remains fully complaint with the technical, statutory and regulatory requirements and safety rules.

What do I need?

The successful candidate for this role will ideally be degree educated in a science or engineering subject and should have a good understanding of Operational Technology Applications such as Distribution Management Systems and Data Historian systems.

You should also have a good understanding of operational safety rules and a good knowledge of the customer facing teams in SSEE.

With a strong knowledge and experience of the operation, design and support of Operational Applications and control systems applied to Distribution, you'll demonstrate excellent communication skills.

You should have the ability to make design decisions and provide expert advice that satisfies both internal and external stakeholders and have a calm, logical, approach to difficult situations. As part of the role, the person is expected is to attend the Control Centre during business hours.

Experienced in RTS roles and field operations and ability to support the SHP private network is highly desirable and additional knowledge in design/project management roles would be advantageous.
