We are excited to announce an opening for a System Planner to join our Thames Valley Planning team! As a System Planner, you will play a vital role in ensuring a resilient water supply in the Thames Valley both now and in the future. Your team will be responsible for taking companywide strategic objectives and producing optimized long-term water system plans for the Thames Valley that deliver upon these objectives.
Aligned with our strategic plans, you will create medium-to-long-term asset interventions that can be promoted through our investment process. By doing so, you will help ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply for the Thames Valley's growing population.

What you’ll be doing as a System Planner
  • Identifying key system design capability (capacity/demand, Opex and performance).
  • Set out the performance required from the medium to longer-term area.
  • Understand the asset debt in the area.
  • Work with others to understand the critical risks in the area.
  • Understand the requirements of our customers, stakeholders, and regulators.
  • Develop and promote medium to long-term needs through the Stage Gate (SG0).
  • Ensure that the plans account for growth, climate change, improving the environment, and supporting the well-being of the communities in which we operate.
  • Share the plans across the area teams to help identify synergies and efficiencies.
  • Work with Operational teams to understand the critical area investment needs in the medium to longer term.
  • Develop medium to long-term activity forecasts for future price reviews and multi-AMP investment planning.
  • Work with external stakeholders and partners to co-create investment options that meet multi-agency needs.
Hybrid – Clearwater Court.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role
  • Good experience or a degree in an engineering or environmental-based subject or similar would be desirable.
  • Professional membership in an engineering, environmental, or asset management organisation is an advantage.
  • Have experience in the role field and hold strong analytical skills.
  • A sound understanding of asset management or engineering best practices.
  • A great communicator who can share complex information with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Be competent with MS Office and Microsoft 365, including Power BI and GIS.
  • Able to pull together complex information and create focused plans that meet business objectives.
  • Have a good understanding of risk management.
