Salary: £28,506 - £37,650 depending on skills and experience.

About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role
We are looking for a Technical Support Technician to join us in Portsmouth. Working within our Technical Support Centre you'll support the systems used to monitor and control the SSE Electricity networks.
You'll also be responsible for the day to day maintenance and fault rectification of Real Time Systems and Protection equipment. As well as this, you'll support the RTS/Protection team with project work and participate in an emergency support rota if required.
What do I need?
To ensure you get the most from your role, we ask for you to have experience working in one or more of the following; RTUs, Telemetry Protocols, ADSL Communications, Tele protection systems, analogue or Digital Radio Scanning, Automation and Protection schemes. An ONC in telecommunications, IT, electronics, power systems or a related subject is preferred; however, we welcome applications from individuals with equivalent experience and training. Safety is SSE's number one priority; you should be safety focused and share our passion for our core company value.
Whilst the above skills and experience are important, we also look for our employees to possess several personal attributes. You should be an excellent communicator and be confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels with the ability to convey complex messages in an easy to understand manner. Your organisation skills will be second to none and you will be open to new ideas working innovatively with pragmatic approach.
